SMO 254 heavy hex nuts are stainless steel with a hyper austenitic grade. The fasteners resist pitting and crevice corrosion due to the alloy’s high molybdenum and nitrogen concentration. These hex nuts have high tensile strength and are noted for their exceptional workability. Because the fasteners are cold-forged, uns s31254 heavy hex nuts have outstanding resistance to stress-related corrosion cracking. The Nuts can also be utilized without re-annealing at temperatures up to 120°C. This alloy is difficult to manufacture due to its lack of sulfur and fast hardening rate. The nuts are forged upset at 982-1149 degrees Celsius, with post-process annealing to achieve optimal corrosion resistance. Traditional procedures are used for cold working. As a result, the cold working process ensures good hardenability.
The 1.4547 Bolts will scale if the alloy is heated over this temperature, reducing the material’s workability. The alloy for UNS S31254 hex nuts can be annealed by heating it to 1149 to 1204 degrees Celsius and then water quenching the SMO 254 heavy hex nuts. We provide a variety of packaging alternatives that are both safe and convenient.
